GENOMES DEBUNK THE IDEA OF BLOND, NORDIC VIKINGS

 The popular perception of the Scandinavian Viking comes from movies, not reality, research reveals.



Actually, their genome includes great deals of genetics from Southerly and Eastern Europe, which also suggests that they had dark instead compared to blonde hair. The study in Nature is the greatest hereditary study of Vikings ever before. The scientists have sequenced the genome of 442 bone pieces from the Viking Age, from around Europe. They find that the Vikings may not be quite as Nordic as thought.
